Update: Herb ladder

I went to Walmart today and found the glass globe watering spikes for $0.97!!!!! Yikes, that is $2.00 cheaper than Tuesday Morning:( They only had two trays and I am not sure if they are stocked and regularly restocked. Found them in the garden gnome aisle.

On a more positive note, it rained all day and the herbs seemed to thrive in this weather. Grew about an inch!!!

It's raining

I had plans to continue adding to my new herb ladder today, but weather is not on board with that plan. It is raining:(. Hope it stops this afternoon, but I don't see myself potting up any more herbs or flowers in the rain.

The Herb Ladder will have to wait. So, I will clean the house a bit and sew some new projects. I just listed some cute mugmats in my easy store. Stop by to look.

Also, this is great weather for a BBC period drama binge-a-thon....... Some tea in a delicate teacup, on a magmat of course and a yummy pastry.

These are the best yummiest ever. Every time I have the opportunity to go to TJ's, I stop and stock up on these babies. They come in chocolate and almond, both equally relish!!!!! They remind me of the French pain au chocolate. I can't tell the difference. I have served them for breakfasts and they make quite the hit. No one can guess how easy it is to place them on a cookie sheet the night before, lightly spray with PAM, and pop in the oven for 12 minutes the next morning. Get some, get some, get some. Nothing compares with these. They come 4 to a box, but you can make one, two, or all of them. Great flexibility for your needs.

Friday reveal! Repurposed old ladder into herb garden

I could not wait until friday to post, so it is a bit of an early Friday reveal. Ok. So many of you have an old, rickety ladder in the garage that no one uses. A little unstable perhaps. Paint spattered? Half the usable size? What to do? Well, I receive daily Hometalk updates and saw a great idea by SmallTownRabler. Photo and link copied below. I had such a ladder in my garage. Rarely used. paint splattered. I also had some white high gloss interior/exterior pain leftover from another project as well as a piece of plywood perfectly sized for the bottom rung. Kismet. Fate. Had to be done. So I started out yesterday lugging it out of the garage and gave it a fresh coat of pain, middle of the day because it is still a bit chilly here in Northern Virginia. As the paint was drying, I traveled over to the Dollar Tree. I like this store over other dollar stores because every thing here is truly $1. Bought a planter, and then saw some wind chimes, a thermometer, a garden trowel, etc. and went home. The suction cups on the thermometer did not stick to the paint, so I added a bit of glue and poof, voila. Adherence.

The butterfly wind chimes add a pop of color inside the ladder.

I went to lowes in search of a pail as in the original work, but could not bring myself to spend $19.00 for the item when I had a perfectly serviceable loves canister that needed a $1.98 cover. I concede that it is a bit less stylish that the original work, but I wanted to put my $$cash into the plants. I already had the rosemary, so I planted it in the Dollar Tree planter. On to home depot this morning. Found some Italian Flat Leaf Parsley, Cilantro, and German Thyme. Not too much selection. That was it or I would have bought more. I bought a Pansy pot to fill the hanging basket. On my way home, I drove past Tuesday Morning which I have only been in once since it opened, but I seemed to recall some garden ornaments and such, so I stopped

I bought some glass watering globes (small for $2.99), filled them and stuck them in the herb pots. They are so pretty. Then I found this guy.......

A rain gage ($4.99). Woo Hoo.... How cool is that. Putting it together and this is what I have so far which room to grow. Already smells so nice. Right near the barbecue and a prep table. Just reach over and snip some seasoning.

I will add my watering can to the bottom shelf when next go down to my garden, and then I am finished until I find more plants.

Bibs galore!!!!

I have been on a bib making binge lately. Just can't stop making them. Of course this goes along with really trying to use up my fabric stash. So I find some fabric and a pattern and make as many as i can until I use it all up. My goal this year is to use up as much of what I have and then really concentrate on reorganizing my sewing room. Saturday Slug

I had great plans to till my garden today and get it ready for planting, but it rained last night. Ugh!!!!! So little time and when the weather doesn't cooperate, even worse. What to do???? Sew of course..... I just finished another adorable bib and listed it in my Etsy store. You should check it out.

I also listed some crossover reversible bits. They were so much fun to make and I love to use up my fabric stash.

Speaking of fabric stash. Bad weather is a great time to organize fabric. I might just need to do that today. Pinterest and You tube have some great ideas for that. I am limited by by the size of my sewing room, but need to get even more creative in order to utilize space more. My machine is large too, ands to be in one location to allow for ample space to embroider. Perhaps I shall take a pic of my princess. I have the Janome MC 12000 and love it, love, love, love, love it. Best machine ever. No problems with thread tension. Always works perfectly. Hey, I just got a great idea for a giveaway!!!!!!!!! At the Movies!!!!

I rented The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel from Amazon last night. I will admit that I wasn't too keen on the movie when it came out, but due to a lull created by Downton Abbey Finale, I have been yearning to see familiar faces. Maggie Smith scored!!! She was great. Penelope Wilton's character was tough to like. Love Bill Nighy. Dev Patel so much fun. A recurring theme is best described by Dev when he ??quotes an Indian Proverb "In India, we have a saying everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, then it's not the end." I have seen it attributed to John Lennon also, but what the heck..... True is true no matter where it comes from. It makes me feel hopeful after a long day, as in today. It makes me feel hopeful when I look at my house and despair at what needs to be done, cleaning, organizing, throwing out, planning, decorating, etc. It makes me feel hopeful when I can't fix a patient. Hope for a cure for diabetes, because at this point it is still about managing it. The scenery is also wonderful. Very colorful. Very warm. You could almost smell the spicy curry. Made me wish for my very own Best Exotic Marigold Hotel............
